Building Covenant and Connection: God’s Call to Unity and Faithfulness

As we approach Resurrection Sunday, Hope City is embarking on a transformative journey of unity and spiritual preparation. Our community is preparing for “21 Days of Fasting”, a time of fasting and reflection that invites us to align our hearts with God’s purpose. This is more than a spiritual exercise—it’s a call to deeper connection with God, each other, and the broader body of Christ.

In this season, God is knitting hearts together and breaking down barriers between ministries. We are stepping into a time when churches are joining hands, moving beyond division to answer the bigger call of the Kingdom. As 1 Corinthians 12:12 reminds us, “For just as the body is one and has many members, and all the members of the body, though many, are one body, so it is with Christ.” This unity is essential to fulfilling God’s vision for our community.

Hope City is partnering with other ministries, worshipping together in a way that might feel different but is undeniably aligned with God’s purpose. This is a reminder that no single church or ministry is complete on its own. God is calling us to incorporate all facets of the body of Christ to create a stronger, more impactful presence in our community.

Learning from Abram’s Journey

In Genesis 17, God calls Abram to walk in righteousness, saying, “I am God Almighty; walk before me, and be blameless” (Genesis 17:1). Abram’s story reminds us that faith requires patience and trust in God’s timing. At 99 years old, Abram was still waiting for the fulfillment of God’s promise, yet God reaffirmed His covenant and revealed Himself as El Shaddai—God Almighty, the one who has power over every situation.

Even when Abram took matters into his own hands, leading to the birth of Ishmael, God remained faithful. This teaches us that while our missteps may create challenges, God’s promises are steadfast. However, as we wait on God’s timing, we must resist the temptation to act outside of His will. As Isaiah 40:31 reminds us, “But they who wait for the Lord shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings like eagles; they shall run and not be weary; they shall walk and not faint.”

Unity in the Body of Christ

This season of connection calls us to embrace the fullness of the body of Christ. Romans 12:5 says, “So we, though many, are one body in Christ, and individually members one of another.” Unity in Christ does not mean losing our individuality but rather bringing our unique gifts together to glorify God.

You may notice new faces leading worship or teaching Bible studies, and you might even be called to step into new roles yourself. Don’t be afraid to answer the call to minister in unfamiliar places or with different people. God is working through this unity to strengthen the church and transform our community.

A Call to Faithfulness

God’s call to Abram to walk blamelessly is also a call to us. Walking in righteousness isn’t about perfection in our strength but about surrendering to God’s transformative power. Philippians 1:6 assures us, “And I am sure of this, that he who began a good work in you will bring it to completion at the day of Jesus Christ.”

To walk blamelessly, we must let go of the mindsets, habits, and hurts that hinder our relationship with God. This involves daily surrender, allowing the Holy Spirit to renew our hearts and align us with God’s will. As Psalm 51:10 declares, “Create in me a clean heart, O God, and renew a right spirit within me.”

From Speaking to Appearing

In Abram’s journey, God moves from speaking to appearing, signifying a deeper level of relationship. This shift underscores the importance of both hearing God’s voice and experiencing His presence. For us, this means being present for others in their time of need, just as God shows up for us. Matthew 18:20 reminds us, “For where two or three are gathered in my name, there am I among them.”

The Challenge Ahead

This week, let us not only speak about God’s love but also appear—show up for those in need, minister to the hurting, and extend grace to those around us. Whether it’s through a word of encouragement, a prayer, or simply being present, let us embody the love of Christ.

If you’re feeling disconnected or in need of God to show up in your life, take heart. God is faithful to His promises, and He is working even when we can’t see it. Trust in El Shaddai, the Almighty God, who is sovereign over every situation.

Reflection Questions:

  1. How can you actively build covenant with God and others this week?
  2. Are there areas in your life where you’ve taken matters into your own hands instead of trusting God’s timing?
  3. What steps can you take to walk blamelessly before God and reflect His character to others?

Prayer: Heavenly Father, thank You for calling us into covenant with You. Help us to walk in righteousness, trusting in Your promises and waiting on Your timing. Knit our hearts together as the body of Christ, and use us to impact our community for Your glory. Show up in our lives, Lord, and help us to show up for others. In Jesus’ name, Amen.

This is a season of transformation and unity. Let us embrace God’s call to connection, trusting that as we walk with Him, He will reveal His promises and strengthen us to fulfill His purpose.
